Katie’s career as a composer started with a keen interest in film music, particularly with the scores of Hans Zimmer, Bernhard Herman, John Williams, Dario Marinanelli, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore and Leonard Bernstein. In Bermuda, her dynamic melodic palette and colorful harmonic sense quickly became reputable, and Katie enjoyed many commissions in early years, including from internationally-renowned youth chorus, St. John’s Choir, and a score for an original musical theatre production, commissioned by the Bermuda High School. She also premiered her piano solo, Prelude in E flat, as part of a welcoming ceremony for His Excellency, The Honorable Governor George Ferguson. In 2014 and 2016, Katie held an assistantship with award-winning film composer and producer, Bruce Faulconer.
In 2017, Katie graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied composition, business studies and jazz voice. In recent years, she has premiered many memorable works, including Indeterminate (2015) for solo clarinet, Space/Time (2015) for fixed media, Conversations (2014) for guitar trio, Three Songs (2016) for voice, bass, guitar, piano, fiddle, and percussion, and N(one), a genre-bending, hour-long feature piece featuring over 18 players.
Katie is currently a collaborating composer and performer for several Baltimore-based bands (2019) including Chaunter, Sam & I, Color Correction, and Freida & the Moon.
